See Lancaster Christmas Ornament Reception Successful
" This is the first Christmas Party of the Season," was overheard
at the See Lancaster reception held last Thursday evening on three of the
L&C's touring cars. The unveiling of the annual Christmas ornament
depicting the L&C Railway Headquarters was a great success. The success
was also attributed to the location. Three beautiful train cars offered a
perfect setting for the Christmas decorations.
Such words as "a jewel" and "the best kept secret" were
heard through out the evening concerning the L&C Railway and all they
offer. The three touring cars, the J.P. Henderson, the Golden Tower and the
Hollywood Beach, had all been luxuriously restored by the L&C as part
of their operations. The guest enjoyed wandering through each car and
sampling food and wine prepared by the Chef John Mickey of L&C and the
See Lancaster committee.
Chairperson for the event April Mathis considered the entire evening a
wonderful success and there was talk that other events should be held
involving the L&C museum and the touring cars. See Lancaster feels
that the L&C is a great tourist attraction and more ideas will be
developing for publicizing such an asset for Lancaster County. For further
information about the L&C Railway and their touring cars visit their
web site at JPHenderson.com.
During the evening many of the new ornaments were sold, but also popular
was the sale of complete sets of all of the past ornaments. Various
locations will be carrying the ornaments through out the Christmas
season, but they can also be purchased at the See Lancaster Center
located at 201 West Gay. A brochure accompanies each sale which gives
pictures and brief write up about the individual ornaments. For more
information concerning the ornaments and other events go to the See
Lancaster web site at seelancaster.org. or call 286-1145
