The Kershaw Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for the annual Springathon. This year our festivities will be combined into one, with the exception of the “Miss Springathon” pageant. To start the activities off at 8am, there will be a Fun Walk. This walk will have the new playground site as a point of interest. Following this will be a parade, at approximately 9am, featuring the AJ Band. The band will also be giving a mini concert.

 Inflatable amusements, provided by Pinnacle Amusements, games, and a petting zoo, along with food vendors and craft vendors, will be open from 10am until 6pm. The AJHS Booster Club will be sponsoring a car show. There will be trophies awarded for each class of cars. Call Brian Broughton at 843-680-2476 for information. We will be having a “Kershaw’s Got Talent” show, showcasing those at any age, with any “talent” for two minutes for each contestant.  A “Deal or No Deal” game will be hosted by David Kellin. If you want to be considered as a contestant, please call David at 803-475-4933 and leave a message, stating why you should be in the game. Only two persons will be chosen, so be sure to “sell yourself” in your message!

 A Miss Springathon Pageant will be held on Friday night, May 16, 7pm, at the Kershaw Elementary School. Applications can be picked up at Expressions, in Kershaw. Interested persons can also contact Kim Forrest at 803-427-2566 for more information about clothing. Ages for the pageant are 1 year through 19 years old.

 DKBBQ (The Worst BBQ in SC) will be having a fundraiser for the Leslie Fund during the Springathon. The proceeds from the BBQ sold will make it possible for those who don’t have the means or insurance, to receive behavior health counseling. The “Prize Machine” will be used at different times during the day, so be sure to enter your name!
