The Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce is set to recognize local
businesses and
business people at its annual meeting next

Room at the Lancaster Golf Club. Plans include a reception and dinner,
as well as recognition of recipients of three countywide awards. Tickets
will be available at the chamber office in mid-January.
"The Lancaster County Chamber has been a symbol of businesses
working together for the betterment of the community for many years,
and we appreciate the opportunity to honor local citizens and
businesses who are making a difference in our community at our annual
meeting, which officially kicks off our new year," said chamber
chairman Tim Hallman. "With many worthy nominees last year, we
will continue the Small Business of the Year award. We will announce
the recipient of the Lancaster County Volunteer of the Year honor, and
for the third year, will present the Citizenship and Service
Award."
The Small Business of the Year award will honor one small business
that has become a successful and growing business venture through
hard work, innovation and ingenuity. Evaluation criteria include:
staying power; growth; innovativeness of product or service;
response to adversity; and contributions to the community. The
recipient will also receive $1,000, sponsored by Wachovia Bank.
The 2006 Volunteer of the Year award will be the 24th year of
tribute to a local resident who has given unselfishly of his or
her time, talents and compassion to positively impact the lives of
others in the Lancaster community.
In conjunction with the award, the recipient's primary volunteer
organization of interest, subject to committee approval, will
receive a monetary contribution in the name of the recipient.
Founders Federal Credit Union is sponsoring the award.
The Lancaster County Citizenship and Service award is a
tribute to a company or to a group of employees who have used
their time, talents and compassion, both on the job and on
their own time, in involvement and service to the community.
The hope is that this annual award will recognize, encourage
and reward citizenship and service in Lancaster County. Duke
Power Co. sponsors the award.
During the reception before the dinner, a silent auction
will be held. More information on the auction will be
released in early January.
Traditionally, the annual meeting marks the changing of
chamber officers and 2007 officers and directors will be
introduced to the membership. Outgoing officers will be
recognized for their service during the meeting.
Complete information and ticket reservation forms for the
meeting will be mailed to the membership in early
January.
