See Lancaster’s Role Expanding
As See Lancaster becomes better recognized and understood through out Lancaster County, our involvement with the community is expanding to involve increasing opportunities to create new partnerships to promote and market Lancaster County.
See Lancaster has recently been a partner in promoting two very worthwhile events in Lancaster County. They were the Carolina Legends Music Festival and the Rural Substance Abuse Prevention Conference held at the University of South Carolina at Lancaster. Both of these events called attention to Lancaster in different, but important ways and See Lancaster was pleased to be a part of both.
The format for Carolina Legends, a nineteen-year-old event, was changed this year to include different types of music from various cultural backgrounds. See Lancaster volunteered to provide the marketing and promotions for the event. According to the Lancaster County Council of the Arts, attendance increased from past years and feedback from surveys was positive. The event was expanded to include Friday night and plans are underway to expand the music festival even more next year. This event is an excellent way to showcase Lancaster County and Andrew Jackson State Park.
The second event brought people from throughout South Carolina and several other states to Lancaster. Over 160 conferees were registered to attend the conference hosted by USC-L. To provide entertainment for the conference attendees and a way to bring visitors downtown, See Lancaster was asked to organize a Downtown block party that became known as “Spring Fling.” Music, food, and a downtown Open House sponsored by the Lancaster Downtown Business Association welcomed people to our downtown. Spring Fling was well attended by the out of town visitors from Idaho, Colorado, Florida and other areas as well as a large diverse crowd from our local community.
The visitors appeared to be impressed with Lancaster and had many good things to say about our hospitality, the lovely countryside and in general the friendly atmosphere of Lancaster.
We at See Lancaster are pleased with our continually expanding role to sponsor, host, and organize community events that offer the public and visitors greater opportunities to appreciate Lancaster County and all it has to offer.
See Lancaster is located at 201 West Gay St. in the LCCA Springs House. Our gift shop and information center is open weekdays from 9:00 – 5:00.
